The wedge at this point simply looks problematic for P1 in Boat Pente. The post above mentions an alternative 9th move for P1 which also appears problematic. However, if P1 chooses not to go with the heavily favored P1 8th move in Pente, I've looked at some alternative 8th moves which have high success rates in Pente, but appear to have issues in some lines and games in Boat Pente.
