I think that is a pretty good idea, since we usually have a number of players who don't show, and you have to be there anyways when it starts. I guess the only downside is that players might not show up because they don't know if anyone else will, I view the list of signed up players as helping get more ppl to sign up.

Right, it is to weed out players who won't play, but also to make the seeding work a little better, since provisional ratings are unreliable. I know of course its not perfect but it helps.

Agreed that for c6 we could make an exception and maybe just do random seeding.

You are insane, no way I'm spending time implementing something like that.
Oh yeah, I vote for C6, I probably will not play if it is Pente or Keryo. And another under 1700 tourney would be good I think.

Ok here is what we're lookin at:
Early January, hopefully:
1) I win the Fall 2006 Pente Open. 2) I divebomb to a 1699 rating and sign up for the... 3) Spring 2007 Pente Classic (under 1700 only, Double Elim) commences. 4) Weekly Speed pente tournaments commence.
Around April:
1) I win the Spring 2007 Pente Classic. 2) Summer 2007 Connect6 Cup (Open to all players, Swiss) commences.
Sound good?
It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.

:/ don't know about all that winning... I'm guessing it would be too much to ask for a C6 tourney earlier? don't know if I'll be around here next summer, moving and stuff.
One other question: Could we do a turn-based tournament at some point? It would be much easier to schedule games, etc, although it would take forever and probably wouldn't work unless it was made swiss or round-robin and only have one or two rounds. just a thought

It depends on how fast we get the other two tournaments done with. I definitely don't want to run 2 tournaments at once. Of course, some one could always step up and volunteer to run one of them :-D.
One other question: Could we do a turn-based tournament at some point? I just looked at the create tournament page, and there is no option to make it turn-based. We'll see.
