This position drives me nuts!

1.0, R3U1 (Tesh Opening) 2.L2U3,R1U1 3.U2, R2U1 4.U1... giving Comberrel the handle of the hammer, which is usually a good thing, but turned out not to work in this position. I mention the start of that game because it follow's Gary's opening rule and brings up the strategic ramifications of the hammer theory.
ACK! This position drives me up a wall because everything I know about strategic principles of the game tells me that P2 should be in the driver's seat here, but I lose this game tactically every time. I've been suckered into this position a couple of times, although the play is transposed slightly. When I bite on it, it tends to develop thus: (I'm P2 in this scenario)
1.)0, R1D1 2.)L3, R3D1 3.)D2, R2D1 4.)D1, D3?!
I can't isolate that stone on L3! It always comes back to bite my Hammer in the butt, and it bothers me because I'm a big believer in the Hammer. I'll transpose into it any time I see a way to.
Questions? Comments? Thoughts? Am I crazy, or does that stone on L3 actually swing the balance in this position?
Aaron

Aaron, Yep, that extra stone makes the difference. I agree that the hammer theory works in most positions, but the placement of the extra stone is a big factor. Scott
