Rule change for Keryo-Pente and Gomoku
Posted: Jan 15, 2003, 3:44 PM

I have been notified from many of you that the rules for Keryo-Pente and Gomoku are not exactly correct at DSG.

Previously Keryo-Pente was not enforcing the tournament rule that is used in Pente. I had assumed incorrectly that it didn't apply to Keryo-Pente. I have now turned on the tournament rule for Keryo-Pente.

Previously Gomoku was counting an overline (more than 5 stones in a row) as a win. This is apparently incorrect and has been changed. Overlines are still allowed, they just won't win the game.

PROBLEM

Dweebo, just in case no one told you yet, 6 in a row now does not win in pente eoither, apparently. Last night samwise and frockman were playing and one of them got 6 in a row and the game did not end. They were playing pente, not go-moku.

If I do not accept a game invite right away, it means I will once I have fewer games in progress.

Doh!

You're right, I messed it up. I forgot that Pente/Keryo-Pente share the same code as Gomoku.

It should be fixed now.
