Active X ?
Posted: Apr 6, 2007, 12:38 AM

Hey I recently bought a new P.C. I have a lot of security. When I click on dweebos I get this warning about active X. What is this? Is windows vista just paranoid?

No. it is normal that Windos OS inform you about Active X
When you is playing at DSG you allow administrator to check your OS. Generally it means that if dwebo or karlw want they can read your information during your playing at DSG.

jeez everybody thinks i'm an admin on the same level as dweebo. For the record: i can't do jack****. i'm just the guy who does tournaments, and annoys the crap out of you on the side. if i'm reading your information, it's thanks to my 1337 haXX0rZ skillz and not my admin privileges.

no, it doesn't mean i can access files on your computer. java security is very tight, if i wanted to have access to your local system i would have to digitally sign my java code with a certificate (like secure websites do) and you would have to agree to let the java applet run and have access.

i am not sure what the warning is, i have not used vista.

For instance admin able to see what you are doing at your computer.
During our games with dweebo at DSG he check what I am doing at my computer. This time it was possible for me to use Database during the games, so I had used it, but dweebo decided that I won because of using the database, so he cut access to database for me at all, so I did not able to use database after the games, too.

Thats just Dweebo who's able to see the logs from this site, not from your computer nosovs, and not a function of active x........and Dweebo didnt give karl that ability. Active x simply facilitates sites that want to have an applet type appearance like your media player, Java, etc......where they become dangerous is if you enable your browser to activate/implement them automatically and it begins to do so at unknown/untrusted sites where they are imbedded to distribute spyware, etc. Just don't configure your browser to automatically download active x without your permission and you should be good Del.

oh i forgot about that....so nosovs has an axe to grind lmao.

you shouldn't have been using the database in the middle of a rated game, and you deserved to have the privilege taken away. take your grudge elswewhere.

It was not prohibited by rules at this server.
Karlw please, filter your speaking - you are young boy who is speaking with rather old man.
You need just some culture in speaking....
We discuss that this can be possible because admin has such possibility and security level with Active X is low.
This is just example. I need not your opinion about good it was or not (it not interesting for me)
I answer Delgr question, and this is good example.

i don't want to have this discussion all over again (you can search the forum threads if you want to read the original back and forth), but for the record i didn't "decide you won because of the database", i just saw you using it and so pretty soon after that DSG changed its rules to not allow users to use the database during rated games.

and i did not take away nosovs ability to use the database after the games were over.

and as squirrel noted, i can't see what you are doing on your computer, i can just see what you are doing when you visit this site (like if you view the database there is a record of that). trust me, i have better things to do than watch what you are doing on your computer, or even on this site, it isn't that exciting

Oh c'mon Dweebo.....you can tell the truth about how much you love to monitor the logs in your free time......a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and a printout of user activity in the database............

Hey Karl is it necessary to insult everyone? Nosovs is cool though maybe a little misdirected with the rules. I asked a question and he tried to help.. You should not be so uncongenial. Have some respect. His level of English is not that strong. You come off abrasive once again. Can you not think? Are you incapable of actually putting your feet in a anothers persons shoes from another country before you open your mouth? Have some vision you selfish brat. Yes I mean brat.
