Why shouldn't I leave DSG?
Posted: Feb 28, 2007, 7:41 PM

I am sick and tire of kalrw, so sick and tired of him, that I am thinking of leaving this site and never returning. I was thinking of donating to DSG, but I certainly will not as long as he is here. I have asked Dweebo to do something about it. He agrees with me that karlw's behavour is not appropriate, but doesn't seem to have done anything about it. Someone convince me why I shouldn't leave.

um....it's not like I'm employed at DSG, and a portion of your donation will go directly to my bank account. We can arrange something if you want, though.

And you barely even play on this site, while I've run 3 tournaments in the past 5 months. If one of us has to leave, I don't think it's a very difficult decision regarding who it should be.

Thad, you letting an 18 year old get you angry on the internet. You’re the only winner here.

I only know you through the pente world, and to the best of my knowledge we have never played a game. You are well known on many other sites, but you have only played 78 games on pente.org… you are hardly a pillar of the community.

I don’t often get along with karlw, and I don’t agree with some of the stuff he has done on this site (As many people know)… but in reality he has done much more good then bad. Setting up tournaments and provided in-depth analysis of many moves.

Having been on this site since 2002 I can say it’s not what the individual can offer the site, but what the site can offer the individual. If you leave pente.org, you will miss out on the best real time pente (any many other games) gaming on the internet, and the database, by far the greatest tool for improving ones game.

I know what you bring to the game and for that I think you should stay, but given the box you have painted yourself into I would have to say, Don’t let the door hit your *** on the way out.

Thank you for your comments, samwise.

This seems to be most people's thinking. But by this logic, if I killed someone and donated a million dollars to charity, I'd be a good guy and I don't think that's the case. Killing someone is extreme, but the idea is the same. Do the positives he's contributed really make up for the negatives? My vote is no.

And if running tournaments is all that's keeping him here, I'll gladly volunteer to run as many as you like.

I don't follow your logic. Who have I killed? Which charity?

I'll admit that I'm not a paragon of virtue and restraint, but in the past few months I don't think I've done a single thing worthy of reproof--prove me wrong if you wish. I understand if you hate me, but this is seriously the -wrong- way to go about declaring it. To most people, it will seem more like a desperate cry for attention than anything else, and I don't see anybody rushing to your defense.

Thad you arent the 1st player to leave as a result of karlw's behavior....other donating members have left because of him also.....so don't feel alone : )

I was responding to another player asking for input....if you read/thought before you spoke, not only would players not be so repelled from the site, but you might have picked up on that too
I also seem to recall earlier in this thread that you noted you didn't see anyone coming to Thad's defense in an effort to rub his nose....problem is I just don't like bully types, so here I am Karl....

love the pic squirrl; very family-friendly, sure to bring a lot of people to this site.

And if anyone wants to share some responsibility running tourneys, I would welcome them with open arms.

as evidenced by the fact that thad has played a whopping 72 games on the site, it's clear that he doesn't care so much about the pente--he's just here to make friends!
