Hi Linda,
Welcome and thanks for the info on the red tube. My site has some info on Pente strategy: a link to some US Pente Assoc. writings and a chapter on Pente strategy by Alexander Nosovsky. There is a book called Pente Strategy by Tom Braunlich but it is out of print.
Anyway, a keystone is a stone of yours that is blocking a four of your opponent. A good move might be for your opponent to threaten to capture the keystone.
I have not been receiving these messages in the mail either, I guess we have to check at the site for now.
Yes, I would like to see a US vs Russia tournament! That is if one of the teams could get money to travel Or maybe meet at one of the Mind Sports Olympiad events. But still a lot of travel either way.

Thanks for the info on the Keystone; I'm looking into getting a copy of the Braunlich book.
Checking out your page, the links that would most interest me seem to be broken. The one to the World Pente Player's page (http://www.nmia.com/~jlgeag/wppa.html) gets a 404 error. The ~jlgeag subdirectory seems to be gone. I also get an error on the link to renju: http://www.lemes.se/renju/pente/pentgifs.htm though here, backing up subdirectories and doing a search finds the right page: http://renju.nu/pente/pentgifs.htm but these writings all seem to be for someone who knows what they're doing, or someone who's going to snap to it pretty quickly anyway, not for someone who's a rank beginner and just needs a handle to grab on to.
It's really surprising to me that there's so little written about Pente.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
