p1 anywhere open variant

on the rare occasion (these days) that i play otb, we occasionally play disregarding the p1 takes center as first move rule.
we have the option to play unrated w/o tourney rules meaning p1 can play its second inside the box here.
i think it would be a fun option to play p1's first anywhere!
it certainly adds an element to strategy!

K10 is optimal for P1, assuming a tournament rule distant second move. If no tournament rule distant second move by P1, then it's not a very interesting game, but K10 is still optimal for P1.

When I first learned the game in 1978 to 1979 the original board (I have two) looked like the attached. P1, P2 and P3 where "more" restrictive. P1 k-10 as normal, P2 went no closer than the inner ring, P3 was no closer than the outer ring. Then the game was wide open.

@ray_jay - looks to me like a sure win for P2.
