I was looking back over some of my old Pente newsletters from the early 80's and saw where they offered $20 per article used on the following topics:
Opening theory and Middlegame theory Basic strategies for novices Psychological play Pente Anecdotes Game reviews Biographies on top players Articles on related games Comparison/contrast of similar games Analysis of current trends in Pente strategy New advanced variations Keryo Pente and strategy Opening strategies for Black Pente Problems Feature Articles Biographies on top players
I think some of these topics would be good as postings on this site and could get some conversations going back and forth, which I always enjoy. I particularly think I will be posting my thoughts on some opening and middlegame theory and strategies, how to win as black (the second player) and annotate some of my completed games with the What's the best move? feature. Maybe I will get back to writing some Pente problems and try to stump y'all.
A quick word of thanks to Aaron and Mark for getting this site going and to Dweebo on his fine site. Also to Gary Barnes for his work on the IYT ratings and the rated tournaments he is planning. I agree with all the others that Gary's IYT record of 200+ games won and only a couple lost is a remarkable record. I can't imagine dominating the competition to that degree, no matter what the competition's skill level.
The IYT October tournament's first round is getting close to being completed. Something's got to give in the next round.
Guess I'm done rambling for now...got to go knock some more rust off.
