I was reminded of this game recently while reading some thread comments about the hammer. I'd played Utratos quite a bit at Kurnik and got him to come here for a few games. Utratos' opponent in this game is James Nees- whose name actually appears in the 1984 Pente newsletter article about the hammer. http://renju.se/rif/pente/w84pen28.gif

During the course of the game, as I recall, James made a comment on the hammer being a losing position. Moral of the story- if it ain't a pure hammer, all bets are off on the outcome...
