Hey Dweebo.....any chance to implement the ability to view started games as opposed to finished ones only?

I'm assuming you mean you want the ability to see other player's started turn-based games.

I personally don't like that feature. I feel like if you are playing a turn-based set you should be able to keep your opening moves a secret at least until the set is complete. I think that would be a nice thing in a turn-based tournament for example (if I ever get around to implementing that here).

Of course if enough players want this as a feature I could change my mind, or make it another option for players to allow their games to be public while they are being played.

Hmmmm I disagree with that notion primarily because the TB format is so 'open' by nature (database, lifelines, call-a-friend, write your congressman, hire an escort, etc...).....also this position lends itself to veiled abuse in the sense that player A believes his moves to be secret when all it takes is for player B to email the moves to players C, D, E and F for dissection. Make sense?

Makes total sense to me; I've sent unfinished turn based game positions to other players before, and most likely will continue to do so. For me personally, it was mostly things like "hey look at this cool board position where I'll win in a maximum of 7 moves- probably in about two months time...". I do see the perspective of keeping a new opening line a secret, but there's no guarantee one's opponent won't adopt your line in another turn based game before that one first one finishes up...

the only exception I think I would make would be perhaps for tournament games- particularly if a duplicate board tournament scenario ever occurs. Still, it's a tough one to enforce. In the duplicate case, howver, there is an incentive for players not to reveal the board, so it's unlikely to be an issue in that case.

Retired from TB Pente, but still playing live games & exploring variants like D, poof and boat

Also, being able to look at the started games would enable a player to see who's particularly prone to playing say a gazillion games at a time so when said hypothetical player has way too much time on his (errrr, or 'her') hands, then they can send invites to other players who too, are in need of a life instead of wasting the time of the good productive citizens who have better things to do than decline 3 hours worth of turn-based invitations after they get home from a hard day at work.

Heya Dweebo......how about a resign button that can be accessed at any time in TB? I have a set that's gonna hafta be forfeited due to time and travel constraints, but its my opponent's turn right now and the only thing I can do is request a cancel....
