The first one.
When a player chooses 10 alternative 5ths, they should give 10 different positions that are not symmetrical (distance to the edges ignored).

Two yellow moves can't be proposed together because of symmetry as well as two green ones.

I pushed updates to handle the symmetry issue, let me know if this fixes it.

I thought fouls in renju were akin to moving the king in check in chess and the move should not be able to be played rather than it resulting in a loss. GomokuQuest app prevents fouls, haven’t played at any other sites. Are both methods common?

Imo, instant loss is more common. Vint, playfive, gambler feature it. Also IRL foul is an intant loss.

Everything works just fine! I didn't check some really nasty foul cases but I doubt they may ever happen.

The only feature Renju needs is a draw. In Pente, draw is impossible, at least in a practical game, so there are no draws on this site at all. But in renju it's a common outcome, at least 10% of all games ends with a draw.

- By agreement;
- when the board is almost full (black has no space to potentially create 5-in-a-row, white has no space to potentially create 5-in-a-row or overline);
- when a player ran out of time and the other player has no space to potentially create 5-in-a-row (or maybe overline if white);
- as a result of two consecutive passes (Renju features passes despite it is a really rare thing).

On World Renju Championship via Correspondence, there were some extra rules about draw. Usually these rules where bound to the number of moves, smth like "after 150th move the game is considered draw" or "after 120th move the game is considered draw unless a proven win exists, send your proof to Referees". But we definitely don't need this here.

The newest updates on the mobile apps now support draws, as well as the desktop version, if anything is not working properly, let me know
