Pente questions...
Posted: Dec 30, 2002, 6:16 PM

Hi all! I'm so glad I found a Pente forum, I have no idea what to do. I'm hoping you all could update me on some things:

1.) I understand that Pente is no longer being made at this time (don't know why they stopped making it either since the game is still very, very popular...), and I know that I'd probably have to go on EBAY to find the game, but does anyone know if there's someone who might have some new tube sets that could be purchased?

2.) I also found a site online where I can purchase more glass stones, but in the pictures that displayed the stones, I noticed that the stones were set on, or looked like for that matter, a glass board. HUH?!? A GLASS PENTE BOARD!!! I'm sure it's next to impossible to find one now, but if anyone knows about it could you give a link just so I can see it!

3.) Has anyone heard anything about the possibility of someone picking up where Decipher left off? To be honest with you, I wish someone would start making the tube sets again.

Thanks for your time and any information to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased the bixed set at ToysRus a couple of years ago. I think you can still get it there ir at a similar place, but I am not sure. I also got a set on ebay for 5 dollars. I have never seen the glass set.

If I do not accept a game invite right away, it means I will once I have fewer games in progress.

About the only pente set I play on now is my little magnetic one. I've got a wooden one that I won up on my wall in the study and a glass one in the box. I'm sure you can find the tube sets but probably would be hard pressed to get the glass, magnetic or wood. Here's some of the ad copy from the back of the glass set box that I thought you might find humorous: "Designed to be more than just another game, Pente offers the unique synthesis of beauty and entertainment in this specially fashioned glass set. Translucent in design. Exotic to the touch. It remains the ultimate gift for discriminating tastes from ages 8 to 80. No less than a beguiling marriage of glass on glass, this set comes complete with rulebook, safety tempered glass board and four sets of glass gems."
Translucent, exotic, gems, beguiling marriage and safety tempered glass seem to all fit together somehow in my mind.

I have posted some photos of the glass board at the Boardgamegeek.

You can also check Ebay:
