(Subject line reflecting both my California heritage & my newly-aquired Texan-ness. Quite proud of myself!) ------------------------- So how's about this: Everybody just chill.
If you think someone is attacking you: Chill. You're getting worked up at the anonymous dashed-off words of a stranger who for all you know might be just a poorly-designed-macro-turned-evil-sentient-being.
If you think someone says something stupid: Chill. It probably is stupid, and you're probably not the only one who recognized it. What you have to say isn't going to change their mind & will only make you look small.
If you think someone says something immature or annoying: Chill. It probably is and again, you're not telling anyone anything they don't already know, except for the commentor, who isn't going to change as a result of your comments.
If you think someone slights you by only playing half a set or leaving in the middle or chatting too much or not chatting at all: Chill. How much of a situation can you really know from 3000 miles away at the other end of a computer link? If an unbalanced 2-point-change on an on-line pente site (though a very good site, I must add) is going to upset your emotional well-being that much, find a therapist who can tell you to chill.
The tone of most of the posts in the last year+ has gone distinctly into the negative. What happened to countless pages of drivel about cheese?

Well, that one comes from my 1st cousin-once-removed Wanda, though I doubt she was the one who said it originally. She may have inspired the quote though.

I just looked it up. It was Brigham Young: "He who takes offense when no offense was intended is a fool, and he who takes offense when offense was intended is still most probably a fool."

I am deeply offended by that highly offensive quote! So now I have decided to pour liquid nitrogen down my pants. Oh my! I feel much better now, Thanks.
