Ok,.. so Dweebo, a question was asked to me while on a table.

"What do we get (detailed list) for said money?"

If you would be so kind to list.

Or do you have a set price in mind for just scripting a block user feature, or something along those lines?

I think people will donate, but they want to know a number,
and what said number does for Pente.org and its members.

Comes down to how much time you have available I presume.

In addition, perhaps you members could post what is in your minds as "the top priorities of development" for this site, that you are prepared to pay money for.

What would you guys pay for to have done for this site and its members?

What are our priorities for Dweebo's limited time to script features, aside from what he already does?

Hey everyone! Great to see people jumping on the bandwagon. I bet Dweebo only said that as a joke and is now sitting there going, what did I just commit to?? LOL

I would venture to say that the list in the original thread that started this one is a good list to start with...There is also a development forum for stuff like this so there are tons of ideas in there as well...

I think that Dweebo should come up with what he is willing to do and that ideas should remain posts in the development forum. Dweebo is very busy with work and home life, he had a baby a while back and being the good daddy I think him to be, I would venture to say he would much rather spend his time on the baby's development than developing this site any further...

So with that said...Any effort he is willing to put out is appreciated by me and I am grateful for the things he has done. I would love to see Dweebo do more for this site but I have to ask, what have you done for this site lately?? (this is directed at all readers) What benefit does Dweebo receive from adding new features and trying new things?

This site is wonderful as it is. As with all things in life, it is what you make of it.

This site has been a comfort for me many times in my life and a part of me believes I would not be here today if it wasn't for this site. I know, I know, laugh and make fun all you want but I am not kidding. It kept me energized and sane (i was ill) for about 2 years and I dedicated lots of time and energy into building this community and it pains me to watch it waste away. It almost hurts. Two people leave for whatever reasons they have and there aren't people willing to step up and fill the void, put them selves aside, and do good for the sake of doing good. What is that telling you?

Okay, I am off my soap box and can't wait to see what comes of all of this!

I really do hope something comes out of all of this.

To all, have a wonderful happy time!

Peace Love and Light!
~Patricia

ps: please forgive if this post rubs you the wrong way but the statement "what do I get for my money" is a little absurd from my perspective, especially if you have played here for free for years...I think the question should be, what does Dweebo get? What is wrong with Dweebo where he wants to donate all his time and effort to a site that doesn't give him anything back?? Where is the community's sense of community? okay okay sorry! LMAO

okay i am laughing and anticipating some good responses here! Can't wait!!!

Well as partica said I was sort of kidding about the money thing, but it might be a good idea.

I guess it would help motivate me more to make improvements. Right now in my life there are alot of things I'm interested in and not enough time to devote to any of them.

I am not offended by the question "what do i get for my money", not at all.

I'll make a proposal for completing the list of item I listed in the other thread (repeated here):
1. a way to block invites (both turn-based and live) from players. as far as having to boot a player repeatedly from a table, i think the current functionality of having a private table would work fine.
2. admin ability to boot player from server for X minutes.
3. admin ability to deactivate player (i just fix need to fix the bugs)
4. a way for users to report instances of abuse to admins.
5. an option to block chat messages from a player.

It is hard to estimate exactly how much time each would take but I'd guess:
1. 16 hrs
2. 4 hrs
3. 2 hrs
4. 3 hrs
5. 16 hrs
And my estimates are usually very optimistic, I would probably end up taking me longer. So thats 41 hours of work, and recently I've been charging $25/hr for side development work. So that would be $1025 for everything.

Since it is my site I'm working for I'd be willing to work for less, in fact I'll work for $10/hr. So I'll implement all 5 features if you guys can put up $400.

If this sort of arrangement works for anyone, and you want other things implemented feel free to post here with ideas or message me. Or if you think this is a crappy idea do the same.

And thanks for the nice post partica, I appreciate it.

LMAO That is hilarious, Zoey but very well thought out and not really a bad idea, well...ok... Dweebo would make WAY more than 400 bucks!! How come I am not in the list? lol I have played a few games meself!!!

You do bring life to the site, don't let the haters get you down, just be careful to not alienate them, it takes all kinds! Don't let yourself get frustrated by them either. It is not an easy road you walk!

Dweebo! YOU ROCK! $400? Well zoey pledged a 100 and so will I. I shall send in my donation 2 weeks from this Friday...oh boy! I am all giddy!!!

Hey Dweebo I have a suggestion/inquiry for ya- What would it take in terms of additional hours, etc. to designate a "Super Admin" and "Assistant Admin" position in the code? To pull a name out of the clear blue sky I would suggest Partica as Super Admin as this position would encompass all the capabilities traditionally associated with the post, whereas the Assistant's position could be assigned to people who have volunteered to run tourneys and so forth so that one person isn't relegated to hours upon hours of grinding out tourneys, handling abuse issues, etc. This would also insure at the same time that the Assistant(s) wouldn't have the temptation to wield their position inappropriately AND negate the need for a congressional hearing to confirm the viability of a volunteer to help out where they could be useful. Any thoughts?

her name's not there because she's inactive, i.e., she hasn't played any rated games of pente for 30 days. check the "inactive players" box before searching and her name will show up, along with several others.

I have not obviously been keeping up with the times here
at DSG, and I think this is a great way to advance into
the future of this website. I will donate $50 bones
and I have not even played that many games

I have enjoyed the players, the structure, and the
education here, and hope this money will help
dweebo to accomplish some cool new changes with
our wonderful home away from home while at home DSG.
