Jhs55 has paid $50.00 to dweebo now. Thank you Jack, you're a man of your word.

Luckily I've had some time these past couple of weeks to work on these changes at night. Today I put up code to implement the block invites and block chat features.

So the way it will work now is when you receive an invitation in the main room, there will be a checkbox at the bottom that allows you to ignore any future invitations from that player. Just check it and decline the invite and you won't get any more. Unless of course someday you want to start receiving invitations again. To do that you need to go to My Profile | Preferences on the web site and there you can manage the players you are ignoring. Note that ignoring invitations also applies to turn-based games.

Blocking chat messages works in a similar manner. To block chat double-click a players name in a room (like you would to view player stats), and then select the checkbox to ignore chat. That applies to messages sent through the web site also. If you want to later stop ignoring chat just uncheck the checkbox. Or alternatively you can use the My Profile | Preferences area to ignore player's chat messages.

So all that remains is to have a page for reporting abuse to me and the admins.

Also, I've decided to just call this site Pente.org now, instead of Dweebo's Stone Games. This site has always been about Pente and it doesn't make alot of sense to me to try and implement a whole bunch of other games (since most likely there are already other great sites to play those games at). So instead I've always chosen to make this the best place to play Pente, and I will continue to try to do that. That is not to say that I won't add other games in the future, just that it won't be one of my main goals.

I decided to make good on my pledge before Zoey and his gang came out to cap my knees. I just completed my paypal contribution. I hope it goes to a good cause!

Oh and many kudos to Dweebo for making it all possible! Thanks man!

To respond to nod's question re: wether you can know if someone or how many someone's are ignoring you, I think it'd be a good idea simply for the sake of not wasting time trying to talk to someone who has put you on their iggy list......other sites with the same type of feature give a message to the effect that communication has been blocked don't they? I guess I'm betraying my ignorance by asking that question, but I would assume so for the sake of tournament communication, etc......

Haha, about this name distinction... I was thinking, one night, about saying something about how I, and I think a few people, would like to see some games like Renju and Go here... and I was like, well, it *is* Dweebo's Stone Games, not Dweebo's Pente Site... but that argument is pretty much kaput now. lol, thanks for takin me down, man :P

Anyway, once I get off to college and can slip money away unnoticed, I'll be donating. I've used this fantastic free site for a long time, and I figure I should give something back, at least monetarily... haha

Back to the original point, I would really like to see those games on here... I think 1) we could draw a lot, a lot more people playing on here, although perhaps then the site would revolve more around other games, and not pente, which would be a bit of a bummer, and 2) it would really just be good to have a good online place to play those games, I know most of the Renju ones I've seen aren't even in English... so yea. That's my two cents. Anyway, keep up the good work Dweebo

Yes, I wasn't sure what to tell the player when they chat/invite and someone is ignoring them. I think I will make a change to at least tell them invitations are being ignored.

But as for chat, I don't want to let them know everytime, maybe I can figure out a way to say "player x is ignoring your chat" the 1st time you write a message in a table and player x is there. Not sure how hard that is.

Also, I think I will add the "ignore invitations" checkbox on the player stats popup as well, next to the "ignore chat" checkbox. That way you can manage both from within the game room and not have to go to the web pages to do it.

One other oversite is I need to add the "ignore invite" checkbox on the turn-based side when you receive a new game invitation. The ignores work now for turn-based but you have to configure it through the Preferences page.

And I'd tell u how many ppl are ignoring u nod but i'm one of them just kidding.

Well Renju is one I would consider putting here, since it is very similar to the games played here. Go is so different I'm not sure it makes sense to have here.

I don’t like the ignore chat idea too much as it will create many problems in conversations that will seem one-sided for the player using the ignore setting. While you can’t see what is being typed by the peep you are ignoring, everyone else who has not ignored him can, and the result is that you will see only half of a conversation between other peeps and the ignored player, resulting in possible serious chat confusion. Often it will appear that other peeps are responding to you when it is the ignored peep they are talking to, and because you can’t see his end of that conversation you are left totally confused as to what is going on, with many wires getting totally crossed.

Scenario:
3 peeps in a table: X, Y, & Z, with Y having just put an ignore on X for lewd behavior while Z still sees everything X types

Here is what Y (who has X ignored) sees on his screen:

Y: Hey Z I just put an ignore on X.
Z: You are such an A-hole!!
Y: Why?
Z: How Dare you!! Don’t you ever speak to me again!!!.
Y: What is it Z?
Z: THAT’S IT!!! I’ll tell you what it is, you are the biggest #@$%* I ever been associated with meeting here at this site! I am out of here.
* Z has left the table *

Here is what both X & Z see on their screen:

Y: Hey Z I just put an ignore on X.
X: Hey I am happy cause you remind me of that squealing pig I once shoved down the crapper hole in our out house.
Z: You are such an A-hole!!
Y: Why?
X: Yeah and there is room for your momma in there too Z.
Z: How Dare you!! Don’t you ever speak to me again!!!.
Y: What is it Z?
X: Hey Z, I ‘m out of toilet paper, and since you like flapping your tongue so much, why don’t we make good use, eh? What is it with you idiots? You are just a bunch of losers.
Z: THAT’S IT!!! I’ll tell you what it is, you are the biggest #@$%* I ever been associated with meeting here at this site! I am out of here.
* Z has left the table *

The better way to handle an unwanted peep is to put a ban on that player that only effects that table as long as you are the owner of that table. It would be a simple modification on the private table function where instead of effecting everyone, as with the private table setting, it only effects the one player tagged with the ban, and that only as long as the owner keeps it that way or until the table changes ownership.

I don't like the ignore chat either for the same reason you mentioned richard. not sure how other sites handle same thing, maybe someone else knows of a site with a better approach to blocking chat? Not really sure what other way to do it.

I don't think we need a ban from table because you can just boot a player now and it will ban them for 5 minutes. It won't be that hard to just keep booting them every 5 minutes, and really who is so lame that they would continue to come into the room every 5 minutes just to get booted again? Actually don't answer that...

Any plans to add a button to 'unregister' from a tournament?

An 'unregister' button is a great idea.

I'll take it a step further. I think there should be a small window (24 - 72 hours maybe) just before the tournament is about to start where everyone who signed up has to physically sign up ... again! I could see an auto email going out to everyone 72 hours in advance that says, the tournament you have signed up for will be starting in 72 hours. If you are still interested, go to DSG and 'confirm registration'.

For a speed tournament, for example, I would make this window only 1 hour in advance of the start time...

Squirrl paid his pledge zoey.......regardless the silly bullshit that repulses him so, the thing he said he would do is as it should be. Performed. If only the elitist would follow suit. Squirrl's out......ask yourselves why. 'Tis cuz the nasty lil' Hoe who bedded down with the squirrl was in fact married to another all the time she did thus. Sometimes hell is too soft a concept.

I'd like to point out that all I edited was a single player name, so it must have been slutsprts that deleted this post.
