Players who are gearing up for round 2 of this tournament might want to consider the following: there is a player in my section that somehow gets 22 days per move and is using them! Those of you reading this post who have played the card game 'Hearts' at Yahoo know that even though you have 3 minutes to play each card, doing so is considered by most the very definition of being an a**hole. What recourse do we have against equivalent behavior at BrainKing? At this rate, I am estimating that my section 14 will wrap itself up by no earlier than August, 2008, and I am guessing that other sections may take even longer. This just seems absurd to me.

The solution is to use the Fischer timer. Since Fencer is too stupid to implement the ability for a player to change the default settings for games from 7 days or to change the default setting to something involving the Fischer timer, this problem will persist. And of course it's too late to do anything about it for this tournament. But perhaps this lesson will help tournament creators in the future.

Aaru (creator) didn't know about other possibilities of setting time but we already talked about it and next time there will be total time for all moves set (no fishers clock i think). Nothing sure, but Aaru was informed about other possibilities, that's what i wanted to say.

Billmo- I play hearts on Msn a lot, and I know what you mean... and there are a lot of people doing basically the same thing on bk. I understand some people, like one in my section who has 1500 games with their turn at any given time, need 7 days to get to it, but it is ridiculous that people who only have games from this tour take this much time as well...

I find this thread really funny! I think it is great everyone is so excited about a turn-based tournament with all the greats in it, but please do not forget IT IS TURN BASED and the site offers vacation days for members and it wasn't listed with short time limits.

Maybe I'll have enough time to get myself at least okay enough that I don't get slaughtered next round... And I'm not that pessimistic, Karlm. I think probably Halloween is a better guess. Thanksgiving, maybe, if some people use all their vacation days...

I am ready for second round, if main players from each group can play faster may be it will possible to run second stage early. Ofcourse to wait when all players will finish their games in each group will be crazy.

Unfortunately, I don't believe BK tournaments allow next rounds to start until *all* games of the previous round are completed, even if those games have no impact on the winners. So we're in for a long wait.
I'm with Spifster. I'll use the many months to get better before the second round starts, because it's going to be brutal.
