for some reason it says 195,000 some on the main page, but then over 210,000 on the database for pente alone. maybe the smaller number is rated only and the larger number includes unrated. one thing i know for certain is unrated games are included in the db. and keep in mind samwise that the db is not only dsg games, but also pbem, iyt, and bk.
one strange thing that always happens to me on the db is i'll be searching through a line and i'll come to a spot where it says there have been (x) games played with a certain move. then i'll search for that move and way more than (x) games will show up. this happens on a very regular basis. do you have an explanation for this dweebo?

That is because the db only looks at the layout of stones, not how that layout was achieved. Often a particular move will form a layout of stones common to more than one sequience, adding to a layout's total game count.

Right now the main page says 198,568 games, those are DSG games, of any type, unrated and rated (but not games against the computer).
The database page says 238,167 games at the top of the page, those are all games from DSG, IYT, BK, PBEM of all types, unrated and rated.
The initial search of the database is for Pente across all sites, so you get back 213,277 games in the statistics box.
The one other oddity I used to notice but it might not be as noticable anymore is that back when I used to import IYT tournaments alot there would be usually a few games each tournament that had zero moves made, because the player never showed up and ran out of time and IYT didn't play K10 for you.
