I wanna start a live pente club!...so bad
Posted: Oct 31, 2005, 5:38 AM

Greetings everyone,
I would really like to start a pente club at my college, does anyone know how I can make this group become affiliated with the WPPF (World Pente Players Federation). Also does anyone live in NC?

You can check out the www.playpente.com website for information about creating a club. If you register at the site, then create a club giving it a catchy name then start selling the idea to those you play often in person, they can become members and Voila! your pente club affiliated with the WPPF is founded. If you have any more questions, Alex, just hit me up next time you see me online!

Not so sure the WPPF is an active federation. Last I checked it had disbanded for lack of interest/effort. Everyone resigned their posts a few threads back in this forum! LOL I think I was the last acting member haha and would love to be an acting member again if there is ever any interest in reviving the WPPF! I do know Homebrew(Rex) is really interested in getting things going again! We are planning on hosting the annual Bodo Konze Memorial tournament annually!

Sorry, I don't live in NC but if I am ever out that way would love to hook up for some live pente playing action!

I think that a lot of the action that took place with the WPPF was based around online play in any case, so if you actually get some people to play together OTB, you'll be ahead of the pack. Sometimes, even when there are a bunch of students in a class together they will end up playing games at places such as this site or pente.net for the features such as undos, saved boards, ratings etc. Taking back 5 or six moves to look at a position can be a hassle OTB, as can speed games Not that I don't recommend OTB play, but I think that there are advantages to both.

Retired from TB Pente, but still playing live games & exploring variants like D, poof and boat
