No disrespect, you both are much stronger players than I’ll ever be, but we all have **** going on in our lives. I’m all for taking the allotted amount of time. I guess my grasp of the time rules/restrictions is the same as when you guys start talking game theory. My rudimentary and I suppose inferior understanding of “2 days/move, no vacations” means EXACTLY that. The moves in this final game have stretched well beyond those restrictions.

I understand and can appreciate the frustration with the many waiting on the few and I'll share half the blame.
But I do want to point out that no one is going outside of any restrictions -- the system will automatically forfeit us if we take more than 2 days. No one is using vacation time in the tourney.
And it doesn't invalidate your opinion, but I do want to point out that you are not advancing to round 2, so at least you personally have no games to wait for.

My two cents is that the prolonged last game gives everybody ample opportunity to 1.) take a break and/or 2.) study up for potential matchups later in the tournament.

I’m not trying to start a beef and yes, I understand I’m not advancing. Just a fan enjoying the show. However, 14 moves in 35 days seems suspicious. But then again math has never been my strong suit.

Well, sorry, but I'm the main reason. I'm doing my best to postpone the start of the next round because in August I'm playing in a real-life World Team Renju Championship-2026 as a team captain and player. I will have zero time to spare on Pente.
So I hope the next round will start not earlier than 19 Aug and I'll do my very best in waiting to prolong it that far. Sorry. After that I will play as fast as I can =)
But, frankly, I'm used to PbEM time controls of Correspondence championships in Renju, it was 21 days/move, 135 days/game, it felt much better for me. 2 days/move is a really fast pace. Nevertheless.
And I'm happy my opponent is thinking a lot too! Thank you, mumix =)

somebody please explain to me why a rating matters. If you cant beat the person on the other side of the table you LOSE. A handicap on the other hand, as in golf or bowling, where you are given strokes / pins, now that is different story.

@madmike: ratings are used to determine tournament seeds, which determine pairings (groupings in RR tourneys), which do have a significant impact in final placements, which matter to a lot of people.
It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.
