Your link didn't work, Partica.

It's here (notice the 1 at the end of the string):

It is a sad day indeed. I did not know Bodo personally either, but spoke with him several times via email and of course knew of his reputation in Pente

I will donate $20 of my personal money as well, let me know where to send it partica or homebrew.

P.S. the broken link problem seems to be a forum bug. You can get around it by putting a space after the link I think.

I will donate as well....Someone just needs to let us know where to send the money.

Dweebo, what you said about his reputation made me think of it this way: He was one of the first guys around playing pente competitively way back when no one had even really heard of the game...It's just a really sad loss. A waste.

I too would like to donate, where should I send the donation? Maybe I can make it to the tournament..... Oct 1st is it?

If I do not accept a game invite right away, it means I will once I have fewer games in progress.

Some of you who can't make it to the tourney have inquired about sending a donation in honor of Bodo. I've been in touch with Beverly Harkey a family friend and the following is what she sent to me. Roxanne is Bodo's sister.

Rex,
Thanks for getting back to me. The family is so touched and comforted by the outpouring of love from the pente group. I have talked once again to Roxanne and she suggested any donations go to the International Red Cross (http://wwwicrc.org/) and be directed to the area where the need is the greatest. On their donation form there is a place for the family to be notified and that address should be:

Family of Bodo Konze
c/o Roxanne Konze Robison
11205 Tracton Lane
Austin, Texas 78739

I will let you know the moment the details are finalized for the memorial service.
Thanks once again for your help.

Beverly

Beverly told me that the website listed above didn't work and to just go to the international committee of the Red Cross and follow the steps from there.

Hello, my name is Roland. Bodo was one of my best friends; actually he was more like a member of my family. I could not bring myself to post anything for some time, though I 've been following the posts since they were brought to my attention. The outpouring from the site's community has been a beautiful and unexpected point of reflection and demonstrates how powerful a force was Bodo's life. Even a casual or occasional association with Bodo affeced most folks.

He is a major reason why I am in law school now and almost everything I know about Austin, I learned from him. There will never be another Bodo, and I miss him very much.

Here is a short biography about Bodo that was passed to me by a friend. His memorial service was this morning, so lets keep his family and friends in our thoughts today.

That was great Dweebo! Thank you very much for posting that link. I still find myself thinking about Bodo quite often...

I'm really gonna miss that guy. Especially this summer. It's going to be a much less fun summer! For me, seeing Bodo, playing pente, drinking excellent Portland Micro-Brews, and just hanging out with The Man was one of the things I had grown use to during the summer time here in Portland. As summer got closer each year, I very much looked forward to the time we'd get to spend together. This summer just ain't gonna be the same...Damnit!
