Still another Pente variant...

If people are looking for a variant that balances
the game between the two players, while still keeping
the perfect-information quality of Pente, how about
this:

Double-Move Pente: (1) The first player places one stone in
the center of the board; thereafter each player in
turn places two stones.

This means that each
player on every turn faces a board that has one more of
his opponent's stones than of his own, so it would
seem that it must eliminate the first-player
advantage. The ability to play two stones at once might be
undesirably disruptive of traditional Pente tactics, so
players could also use:

(2) The two stones played
in a player's turn cannot be on the same horizontal,
vertical, or diagonal line.
