some profiles disappeared
Posted: Jul 2, 2026, 12:45 AM

Looking back at some of my recent games looks like my opponent timed out but when i click on a name it says ¨profile not found¨. does it mean they deleted the account or something?

Blackdogs is/was a strong player. Madhippo/secshun8/tragedy is/was a strong player, known for creating alts, who has been inactive since around the time Blackdogs started playing. Interesting coincidence...

mid tournament is unfortunate, he probably needed a break or was too busy. It appears he has done it before. An account named blackdog was active 2023. He also had a set with secshun8, so probably not him

Not proof of anything. But I also have little by way of proof, other than the fact that the community of active 2400+ pente players is a small one.

My theory, is he keeps making new accounts, so that he can reach some high rank goal. But fails to do so each time. And keeps trying with new accounts. Also, he probably doesnt want players to be able to target his moves in the data base. He'll probably get mad i said it. But, dont really care. I have not much sympathy for alt masters who sand bag players in rated sets, in a non-casual play style. Its unethical, which is why we have written site rules against it. Rules which apparently never get enforced. Which i think is sad.
Tragedy should had just kept his original name, and climbed up the rankings the hard way like the rest of us.
Because reaching a high rank as a alt, holds zero value. Gains zero street cred. Its manipulation of provional ranking system. Probably played his 2 accounts vs each other to further stat pad. Yup I went there. Sup...

Just my not so humble opinion.

Definitely a fair opinion. I'll offer one other angle, is that some people after establishing themselves in a community for a while, end up with an ego and put too much pressure on themselves, or possibly end up with a reputation they dont like, and it's then a relief to just become a new person that no one knows. I see it in other gaming communities I've been in (that didn't have some provisional system to take advantage of).

I feel it sometimes too when my elo is higher, and people know me and stuff and expect me to play well, then there's some pressure to maintain that elo and play optimal moves and stuff... and then i'm like ahh whatever just try some other routes who cares

Yes in rated live, I felt that pressure. To play perfect.
In turn based, I dont. Turn based I decided to not care of rank. And so I play a little looser. All the games lately I just play from my phone only. And, vs tempest I used a P1 im not familiar with and didnt study to use. Simply to give fair chance. So yeah I get what you are saying, and I personally feel I enjoy the game more now by not caring as much. Besides, I dont really feel I have much to prove now, in such a small community. Everyone knows what im capable of. So rank is pretty meaningless to me at this point. I just like to have fun.

As to running ones mouth, and then changing names to avoid the torches and pitch forks. I get it. But, you cant run from your self. If you are the same person it will just happen again.
Although, if you do try to change, as a name which has a bad reputation, the world may try to shove you back into your mold when trying to reinvent your self. So there is some logical merit to changing identity I suppose.
But sand bagging masters over and over rated, for years, under the guise of a new pente player, is kind of fucked.

The ego problem. Gosh I am guilty of that from time to time. Not because im a admin. But because of my understanding of the game. And im also a chef in real life, so... that probably isnt helping either.

Personally. I think he should name him self Tragedy2. And throw games in provisional enough that he lands at 1675 by the end of 20 games. Then climb the ladder from there. Its the only redemption I can see.

In other community, there was this one guy that everyone hated, and he kept saying even he acts normal people still treat him terribly because of his past. He would have multiple active alts at a time, and sure enough when he came in with a new name people would treat him better. But we always figured out who it was (alts werent allowed) and then everyone would start treating him poorly again. This went on for years. No escaping your past sometimes. And it can take a looonnnnggg time to repair relationships.

Tragedy never really said much wrong. No one hated him as far as I know. He just started going for world record of most alts. And I strongly feel it was to go for highest rank.

And yes, what you said lines right up with what I was saying. I remember squirrelking was sort of that guy.
And he always blew his cover by how he would talk. The moment he said "me thinks", we knew for sure. But, he used to get me absolutely riled up in the forums. Absolute internet troll.
