What is so funny is that I have spent a ton of time in the philippines and EVERYONE there calls cheese Butter and not cheese, see they don't have any real cheese there, the only cheese they have is a spread and looks like butter and they have such a limited amount of words that is becomes butter and not cheese.

There are many other things they say there that just drive me crazy. They think it is English but it is not. Here are some.

"For a while" They say this and it means wait for a while but they NEVER said wait, they don't even know the word, after someone says it they leave and sometimes don't come back for 10 min or so.

“Vegetarian” Ok I don’t eat pork, I do eat limited beef and sometimes chicken breast. So in the US I order Vegetarian much of the time, and because pizza is usually so filled with pork I always get vegetarian. So in the Philippines I did the same, but there it just means EXTRA vegetables, they still leave all of the pork on it. Also they do not seem to know what pork is. I order food all the time with NO MEAT and NO PORK and so many times they put real bacon bits all over it, they do that with so many foods but when you ask 5 times directly to the cook you think they would know that bacon is meat.

“Pax” They really think this is an English word, they use all the time in writing. Like 5 pax. It means something like “people max” So if a car can only have 5 people they put pax 5 on it. It is ok for them to have their own words, they have many, but this one they ALWAYS write as if it is English and it is NOT.

Now I don't have anything to say about Uma Thurman, but I am a fan of most cheese; the notable exception being bleu cheese.

My last roommate was slightly obsessed with cheese & insited that cheese should be classified by region; French cheeses, Italian cheeses, etc. I, however, maintain that the only useful classification is by color and consistency. We got along very well except for the cheese wars, when serious disagreements would arise as to whether or not it was appropriate to include cottage cheese (liquidy & white) in lasagna.

Richard - I feel your pain; I haven't been able to stand the sight of rice crispy treats since New Years...1986 when as a youngster I ate nearly half a pan & got violently ill minutes into 1987.

Ok, sure. You get Uma to help out with some "cheese therapy" and I’ll reconsider my point of view. The most probable effect, other than the development of a new found revulsion for Uma Thurman, would be her rediscovered revulsion for projectile vomiting.

Ok lets discuss 'Limburger'. Now there is a cheese true to form. It smells like someone’s socks who hasn't bathed in over a year, and likes to soak his feet in road kill everyday before wearing them. I am not exaggerating! Go to any cheesery, take a whiff, and you'll find that I am under-exaggerating.

Now consider the logic behind the historical invention of Limburger cheese. Personally, my mind can't find a way to wrap around it, and come up with a reasonable explanation. I mean did Herr. Limburger forget that a cat crawled up and died in his cheese vat in the cellar, and looked over at his wife and said: "Honey, did you bathe this month? cause I gotta say you are smelling extra ripe." She replies: "No Baby, that's ether because you forgot to bury uncle George last week, or your cheese batch in the basement has went south for the summer." So as the guy opens the basement door, and the vast power of his latest cheese experiment takes his breathe away. He thinks: "Eureka!! Now if this batch-o-cheese tastes half as good as it smells...."

Does anyone else enjoy cheese with fresh fruit?....It must seem a dumb question, but when i 'discovered' this delightful combination a few years ago, it sent me spiralling through cheese heaven!!!! Apples especially, or pears, or grapes, ....and it doesnt seem to matter what kind of cheese you use this way either....well I can't say I tried Rich's fav yet, but mebbe I'll get around to it and post some pics for his benefit!!!
When I went to New Zealand a few years ago, I was treated to an awesome pizza of chicken, cranberry, and brie......if you havent already, you definately wanna try this as well......

Actually, I'm a big fan of cheese with frosting. But then again, I'm weird.
A slab of cake with a big slice of mild chedder to cut the sweetness. Can life get any better?

Love the new pic, squirrel!
