I support adding this new "boat" pente. It sounds interesting and with all this talk about it, I'm curious to see how it plays out! I personally stick to the original version most of the time, but mixing it up a bit doesn't sound so bad.

But really, is all the bickering necessary!?

I'd like to see how the play in boat pente works out. It sounds pretty interesting. Count me in favor for this new boat variation, though I can't say that I have a boat to play it on.
It seems there is some strong opposition boat's addition. Why? If you don't like it, don't play it. Too simple!

I think I missed the part about the cheese...

i think that if you have to change the rules to extend the game then you haven't found the right opponent....

It's not created just only to extend the game, (although that can happen, and nothing wrong with that for some)but for changing the strategies of opening moves, mid game play, and of coarse the end game. It becomes a slightly deeper in thought game, for those that want a new, and more in depth challenge.

This does not completely fix the "white goes first and has an advantage" syndrome, but it does push the game more in the direction of balancing the syndrome in some known instances
