This could be the biggest Pro Pente tourney in the last 10 years. At this time there are already players from 17 countries involved. Between 20 and 30 of the best active players in the world are already signed up from many sites. If you want to say that you played against the best thats still out there its time to get off your butt and see what you got. There are as many great timed players as turnbase players so thats no excuse not in this tourney. Even players with no rankings at all and have never played there have put there name into the Hat. This may be the World Championships of Turnbase Pente. I hope to see more of you in it. Jayhawklov

Most all of the world's best players are signed up, but there are a few top players who are missing in action:

brain008 (!!)
brf (!)
snut
aaron fortune

All we need is a few more names to make this tournament the olympics of pente!

According to Aaron's profile at BK, he's no intention of playing there anytime soon. Brain has told me he's playing but he hasn't signed up yet. Snut and Brf must be busy concocting homebrews

I am attempting to sign up, let me know if there's problems. Been out of World Class Pente for a while now,
ready to jump back in and get my butt kicked.

I have some potential issues with the tournament setup. First:

Maximum number of players per section: 8

Will only one contestant from each section be advancing? If so, then we would be looking at up to 88% of players being eliminated from each round, making for a fast and boring tournament.

Second:

Final match type for two player section: 3 wins match

This gives a significant statistical advantage to whoever starts out as white! We can't have this in a world-class pente tournament!

Hopefully I'm mistaken in this, and if so someone please set me right.

This tourney wasnt really set up as a World championship but with at least 40 of the best Active players and 140 total it might as well be the called the World turnbase Pro Pente Championships. As for being a fast tourney. You make me laugh. This is going to be longest drawn out tourney the world has ever seen. Way over a year in length. This will make Snuts 3 tourneys (the total was 30 to 36 people in each) and the major Pbem tourney with all the biggies playing look like a walk in the park. They all took about a year to finish. As for one person winning each of the 17 to 18 sections that will never happen. There are so many top players playing Unrated not including incredible players with low rating there that making it to the 2nd round is one major accomplishment. There will be at least 3 to 5 rounds after its done and only one major tourney at Brainking ever came down to 2 players ( Gary Barnes (Progambler) Spring tourney back in 2003). This is a chance to make History no matter how long it takes. This is the largest Pro Pente Tourney since the 1980s with so many great players from over 20 countries that its a true honor to play in it. All the players that havent signed up, you better get on the bandwagon before its too late. You will regret it. Good luck to all Jayhawklov PS: It could be alot boring but one of the most Challenging tourneys you will ever play in.

Im sorry I made a mistake it was Snuts 2nd tourney that came down to Nosovs and Aaron Fortune. There were 5 in final of the Major Spring tourney 2003 that Mr Mark Mammel won.
